An Oral History of Robert Richards Midkiff

“I learned the motto which became the success story at American Security Bank and at American Trust: ‘We show our clients how to do what they want to do.’ So I added (i.e., loaded) my brain cells (with) all kinds of solutions. I felt like I (i.e., my brain) was like a big rolltop desk with little (storage) boxes. And so I could recognize this (certain) kind of a situation. I say, ‘Oh, that worked in that situation.’ I’d pull it (i.e., a successful solution) out of my brain and come up with a solution to do what they wanted to do. That was really the key.” —Robert Richards Midkiff
