“We had two canoes going to Kaho‘olawe that time, see? Then we went over (in) two canoes and one flat-bottom boat. And this flat-bottom boat is about 17-footer, I think. And used to pack the nets. We leave Makena early in the morning when the star comes out, and go to Kaho‘olawe just for fishing.” —Wally Kuloloia
